Phoebe Yang, the general manager of Amazon Web Service’s healthcare practice, is leaving the role, she said in a LinkedIn post.
Yang said she would pursue other opportunities and her last day at Amazon would be on September 1.
On Thursday, Doximity, the digital health and physician social media company, named Yang to its board of directors. Yang will provide “strategic guidance” to Doximity as it eyes growth, the company said in a release.
“Phoebe is a rare 'two-sport' leader, well-versed in both healthcare and technology. Her industry insight and go-to-market expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve all 20 of the top 20 health systems,” Doximity CEO Jeff Tangney said in a prepared statement.
In addition to Doximity, Yang is also a board member at Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health. Previously, she was on the board of directors for Providence St. Joseph Health, served as chief strategy officer at Ascension, and was a lead expert for health IT at the White House under President Barack Obama.
At Amazon, Yang collaborated with AWS’ healthcare clients on telehealth, chatbot and voice activation systems. Last month, the Seattle-based tech giant announced its plans to acquire One Medical, which some experts said would have significant impact on its AWS division.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
